hello new php , don't know exactaly code means

$de = array('Ä'=>'ae','ä'=>'ae','Ü'=>'ue','ü'=>'ue', 'Ö'=>'oe', 'ö'=>'oe', 'ß'=>'ss');  strtr($str, ${$de});

the thing need know ${$de} mean?

it's variable variable, 1 of intriguing part of php implementation.

sometimes usefull, confusing:
